DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

Pretty much everything about a romantic relationship is a cliché.

This is because love stories are so similar to one another, in all but one: their protagonists.

James and Penny are stuck in a world where everything is disposable. From fruit and toilet paper, to kisses, terms of affection and promises that they exchange.

Super tells the story of their first/last date. It unfolds as a mumblecore comedy-drama in black and white, touching on the themes of time, love, alienation, performativity and the illusion that things may last forever.
